Brief Answer:
A spinal MRI is necessary for a correct diagnosis.

Detailed Answer:
Hello and welcome to 'Ask A Doctor' service.

I have read your query and here is my advice.

X-rays may show any bone damage such as fractures, slipped vertebrae, after trauma, but is not the examination of choice when it comes to neurological symptoms such as numbness in your case.

The examination of choice in cases like yours is a spinal MRI that can give the necessary information about the diagnosis.

The MRI gives detailed information about the involvement of intervertebral discs, nerves, spinal cord, soft tissue, and bones.

In your case, it may be muscles strained, herniated discs disease, etc. and these conditions are evaluated correctly with a spinal MRI.

Discuss with a spine Specialist for these issues.

Hope you found the answer helpful.

Let me know if I can assist you further.

Brief Answer:
I would explain as follows.

Detailed Answer:
Welcome back and thanks for the additional info.

It may be muscles strained or ruptured, it may be small fractures of the spinous or transverse processes of the vertebrae that are missed usually on x-rays, etc.

MRI could give the necessary info for the diagnosis.

Hope I helped you.

Regards.
