Question: Hi im 8 weeks 4 days pregnant. i just noticed some brown discharge today. i have no cramps. i havent had sex for a while and my first OB was last week and everything seemed fine. this is my first pregnancy and wondering if i need to go for a check up? some people tell me its not normal but some women have it during the first trimester.

Have you had an ultrasound scan during your last OB appointment? If the scan report was normal, then you need not worry. It could just be a implantation bleeding. This brownish spotting should subside in a day or two. If not do consult your doctor again for a ultrasound scan.
Avoid sex for a week.

Since the ultrasound has been normal, 95%chance that everything will be normal.

As you have passed a blood clot, I suggest you see your doctor and get a repeat scan done.

Ok thank you. Yes the scan came back normal. Heartbeat of 169 at 7 weeks and 6 days. I did pass a small (dime size mayber smaller) blood clot.
