Question: Hi, i'm trying to find out if I have a fungal infection underneath my scrotum. Some parts are red and the area is tender and dry with some flaky parts and it can get very itchy. I applied antifungal ointment but it burns and stings alot .. it feels like when you put rubbing alcohol on a cut. I have not been sexually active for almost 2 years. I have pictures to show if I can send.

Pictures uploaded. Hope this helps .. you might see the first picture where the area is shiny .. that is just my camera flash. My scrotum and the lower part of my penis is starting to itch as well but no visual signs of anything.

thank you. I have viewed the images.
You seem to have eczematous dermatitis worsened due to chronic scratching. I suggest you to use a moisturizer. In addition I suggest you to use a moderately potent topical steroid e.g either mometasone furoate 0.1% cream or triamcinolone acetonide 0.1% cream, twice daily, over this patch. You may also take an oral antihistamine e.g cetirizine 10mg tablet once a day for a few days for symptomatic relief from itching.

Oh I see, thought it's been a skin infection. I was diagnosed with vitiligo a few years ago where it showed on my face but none was around my groin. I was prescribed Dermovate and Tacrolimos Ointment ... can those work?

I also have a boil on my inner thigh and one is forming on my buttock .. is that anything to worry about?

Regarding eczema and boil

Detailed Answer:
Hi,

You may use Dermovate cream. It is a Mometasone furoate cream. For boil I would suggest you to apply Neosporin or Mupirocin ointment, twice daily.

Better if you can also take a week of oral antibiotics e.g either Amoxicillin or Cephalexin (prescription by your local doctor may be required).

In addition, I'd advise you to apply heat over the boil with a hot towel or cloth.
