Hi Info: 6 Years Old Child Diagnosed With II-III Grade
Question: Hi
info:
6 years old child
diagnosed with II-III grade adenoids a year ago
the repeated test yesterday showed: II-III grade adenoids
uses his mouth to breathe during the day
sleeps with the mouth a bit open
doesn't snore
Other health conditions: dermatitis, mild attention deficit disorder, delayed emotional/social delay, intellectually corresponds to his age
After being diagnosed the doctor prescribed:
Maresyl nasal spray: 1 puff twice per day for 5 days
Salt water spray: 2-3 puffs twice per day for 7 days
Flutinex nasal spray: 1 puff at night for one month - THIS IS A fluticasone based STEROID
Zirtec: 10 drops twice per day for 15 days
Tonsilotren: 1 pill 3 times per day for 1 month
Cinapsin: 1 pill 3 times per day for 1 month
Questions that I have:
Is the treatment prescribed by the doctor ok? Does it make sense?
Some medication is for tonsils and sinuses and I am confused why was it prescribed as they said the tonsils are not enlarged.
I am concerned also to use a steroid nasal spray for one month.
Will the treatment reduce the adenoids?
What would be a better approach? Should we do a sleep apnea test and see if the adenoids interfere with brain oxygenation and see if removing them surgically would be better?
thanks

Brief Answer:
Continue treatment as given by the doctor.
Detailed Answer:
Hello dear, welcome to 'Ask A Doctor's service.
I read your query and here is my advice.
Please continue taking the treatment given by the doctor as recommended by the doctor.
The Fluticasone spry can safely be used for two months for children under 12years to reduce adenoids.
I don't think you need to do a sleep apnea test since you already know that he has it and also know the cause of it, adenoids.
Surgery is a definitive treatment but this treatment is worth it to try.
Hope I have answered the question.
