Question: Hi, its about 2 weeks that I get up with a weird sound in the front of my head. These are short musical sounds but strong. They continue in quick succession with just a 10-15 seconds apart. I feel some pressure in my head then. This happens only when i sleep on a side, doesn't happen when sleeping straight or when i sit up.

Brief Answer:
Brain scan may be preferable.

Detailed Answer:
Thank you for posting your query.

I am Dr Sudhir Kumar, Neurologist, and I would try my best to help you.

I have noted your clinical details. Based on this, it may be preferable to get a brain scan done. Sounds in the head usually indicate a problem with blood vessels in the brain. We need to exclude any vascular malformations in the brain. If the scan rules out vascular malformations, then, symptomatic medicines may be used to relieve the symptoms.

I hope my answer helps. Please get back if you have any follow up queries or if you require any additional information.

Wishing you good health,

Hi Dr. XXXXXXX XXXXXXX
Appreciate your prompt response.

Should tell you that I have Allergic cold since many years and I often have blocked nose while sleeping. These sounds happen when the nose is blocked and I am mouth breathing and not when I am breathing through nose.

Does this tell you something?

Please let me know.

Thank You.

Brief Answer:
ENT evaluation would be useful.

Detailed Answer:
Thank you for getting back with more information.

Based on that, an ENT examination would be useful to exclude conditions such as allergic rhinitis and sinusitis. These can be treated with simple medications.

Best wishes,
