Hi, My 5 Year Old Girl Has Is Currently Waiting

Question: Hi, my 5 year old girl has is currently waiting for an op to have her tonsils and adenoids out. Following from request infections, throat and ear and also suffers from sleep apnea confirmed by a recent overnight sleep Study. I’m keeping the odd check on her at night with my paediatric pulse oximeter. Nor every night but obviously a bit worried, tonight it dropped to 69 pretty quickly and went back up eventually, is this cause for concern, I was wondering if this is normal, it isn’t going above 93 now it’s back up.
Or shall I take her to the gp tomorrow or Speak to the consultant she is Under?

Thanks for using the Ask a Doctor service.
I have gone carefully through your query and understand your concerns. The drop in saturation is indeed concerning but it is relieving to hear that it is back. The ideal management would be to get the tonsils removed and that is already on the plan. So going to the gp will not help. Rather speaking to the consultant she is under would be important because the information could make him prepone the surgery.
Feel free to write back.
