Hi, My Daughter Is 4 Year 4 Months Old. She Has High Fever Of Over 102F. Doctor Recommended Us To Use Crocin DS For Fever And If The Fever Is Not Controlled By It Should Still Keep Giving It?
Question: Hi, my daughter is 4 year 4 months old. She has high fever of over 102F. Doctor recommended us to use Crocin DS for fever and if the fever is not controlled by it, he advised us to use Meftal P. We gave her Crocin at 3 PM and meftal P at 7 PM. That controlled fever till 12:30 AM. After that, we noticed that my daughter is having chills and gave Meftal P at 1:00 AM. It is 2:40 AM now and the fever has not reduced. Is it necessary to give both Crocin and Meftal for high fever? Or, is it sufficient to have just Meftal P. Please advise! Thank you!
My daughter has high fever of about 102 F since Aug 25th Morning. We gave her Crocin 5 ml twice, but the fever did not go down. We visited a doctor and he said it’s viral. He asked us to give her Meftal P for the first two days as Crocin may not be effective. We missed to ask if Crocin should be given along with Meftal P for the fever to reduce. I noticed that Meftal P doesn’t have Paracetamol.
Brief Answer:
It is sufficient to just Meftal P
Detailed Answer:
Hi,
I have gone carefully through the details and understand your concern. Most often such symptoms are due to viral infections and antibiotics are ineffective in such cases. Irrespective of treatment it usually spontaneously resolves in 5-7 days.
If your child has a fever with temperature more than 100°F, you need to give paracetamol(Crocin) to it bring down in 6-8 hours. However, I do not think that they would be needed to be used simultaneously.
Please be patient. It may take a few days for the recovery to occur. It should spontaneously resolve in 5-7 days.
Hopefully, that would help. Feel free to write back in case of further queries.
