Detailed Answer:
Hello!
Welcome to Ask a Doctor service!
I reviewed carefully your father's test reports and would explain that considering:
- your father's previous medical history (has been treated in all the three main coronary arteries by previous percutaneous angioplasty by stents implantation);
- and his actual clinical condition (suffering from additional calcified coronary stenoses);
- and the fact he is suffering from diabetes mellitus already a mildly reduced systolic cardiac function (with regional left ventricular contraction abnormalities)
it seems that aorto-coronary bypass surgery is the most rationale therapeutic strategy offering a more stable and safe solution.
Further percutaneous coronary angioplasty with stent implantation would result in a lower success rate and also more prone to complications as the actual coronary stenoses are calcified and interposed to previous implanted stents.
So, to conclude, I would agree and be in favor to what your father's doctor have advised: CABG surgery would be a reasonable therapeutic strategy.
Hope to have been helpful to you!
In case of any further questions, feel free to ask me again.
Kind regards,
Dr. Ilir Sharka
cardiologist
