Hi My Husband Has A Swollen Lymph Node On The
Question: Hi my husband has a swollen lymph node on the back of the head (occipital I believe) and a swollen lymph node about his clavicle bone. The occipital one appeared a day after a vigorous massage and the clavical one appeared within 5-6 days after. They are tender. Of course j in went and researched it online and am how petrified about it. Everything I’m reading says a clavical one means cancer of the esophagus or lungs. Is this 100% true all the time or is possible at all it’s not cancer? I’m kinda freaking out.
Brief Answer:
Not true!
Detailed Answer:
Hi and thanks for this query.
While swollen lymph nodes could be suggestive of cancer, it is unlikely in his case.
Cancer-related nodes develop over a long time and are not tender. The short period and tender nature make any such considerations unlikely. Tender nodes respond to inflammation from trauma.
The massage seems to have triggered a local inflammatory response which is responsible for this. There is no need to panic. Pain medication and watchful waiting is all I recommend at this time.
I hope these guides and helps. I wish you well.
