Hi My Mom Is In The Hospital And The Doctors

Question: Hi my mom is in the hospital and the doctors want to do an exam a cardiac catheterization but I looked up the procedure and saw that there was an option for a non-invasive procedure which is the CT scan of the heart and vessels so I suggested she get that one instead there's less risk involved and I think I did the right decision so if possible coming from a doctor do you agree or disagree that would really help me decide

I understand your concern and would like to explain that coronary angio CT would be a rationale alternative for coronary artery study in patient with an intermediate probability test (suspicious chest pain and presence of cardiovascular risk factors) of having coronary artery disease.
Instead, in patients with high probability of coronary artery disease or those having acute coronary syndromes coronary angiography would be the right choice.
So, coming to this point, when deciding which diagnostic step to follow it is necessary to review her actual clinical symptomatology and preliminary cardiac tests findings (ECG changes, cardiac enzymes, echo report, etc.)
If evidence of cardiac ischemia is clear from the above mentioned tests, then coronary angiography is highly recommended. In such case, the benefits would outweigh the potential risks.
Hope to have been helpful to you!
In case of any further questions feel free to ask me again.
