Hi My Mother In Law Has Swelling And Pus In
Question: Hi my mother in law has swelling and pus in right foot upper side where straps of slippers come. This is for no reason and no injury..She has pain in that while she walks. It got fine and then after a month it happened in other door with no reason in same pattern. She is around 70 years with some blockage in heart.she also has some vercocise veins issue .. taking bp medicines also. Else healthy .
Please suggest what can be the reason for this one .. why this is coming up suddenly in one foot or the other

It is due to Infection.
Detailed Answer:
Hi
Presence of pus and swelling is due to Infection only.Simple injury can create an entry point for Bacteria to cause Infection.It may not be visible.Even friction due to slipper strap can also cause this.
Patient should not walk bare foot.
If she is diabetic,she has to take extra care.Her blood sugar should be under control.
Varicose veins can cause Ulcer over the Lower limbs followed by Infection.
If pus is present,it has to be drained and send for Culture and Sensitivity.Till then, Antibiotic like Linezolid and Metronidazole should be used.Cleaning and Dressing should be done daily.
Nothing to worry.
Colour Doppler of the lower limb will give a Clue regarding Blood supply.
