Hi, My Mother Is 70 Years Old. 5 Days Ago,

Question: Hi, my mother is 70 years old. 5 days ago, she had a fall. As per the report, it is a comminuted fracture of the upper end of the humerus with multiple displaced fractured fragments. My question is is a surgery necessary or will a few weeks in a splint be equally good. Her being a diabetic and pursuing a mostly sedentary lifestyle, is surgery going to be a very risky procedure?
