Hi, My Mother Is 72 Years Old And She Fell

Question: Hi, my mother is 72 years old and she fell down 8 weeks ago while overseas in central XXXXXXX She didn't want to go to a doctor so she stayed home resting, and adding ice to her leg. She hurt her right knee, from the knee down her leg seemed to be sideways, not with a broken bone or anything, but sideways from the knee down. I asked a doctor and they said it could be Fractured, or a mensical tear, but without an xray it was hard to tell. I explained how she didn't want to go to the doctor due to Covid, and asked if she could heal at home. He said she should be able to heal at home with rest, ice and elevation, she did that, but now that her leg seems to have less pain, it is still moved to the side. I am wondering if there is anything I can do from home to help her straighten her knee.

Detailed Answer:
Hi

It's likely osteoarthritis of the knee with ligament damage making the knee and leg move sideways.

Best to get her examined by Orthopaedic Specialist and an xray to confirm.

After that it may require surgery to correct the deformity and can be done at this stage.

Thanks and regards.
