Hi, My Partner (a 62 Y/o Male) Has Been Experiencing

Question: Hi, my partner (a 62 y/o male) has been experiencing nausea and vomiting for several hours this morning -- retching/vomiting every ten to twenty minutes for the last two hours. He and I have been self-isolating due to the pandemic so our exposure to others has been extremely limited. He has a history of alcohol use disorder, but over the last two and a half weeks has been consuming alcohol only in moderation. (The last time he had a major binge was on September 1.) He has also been having feelings of anxiety this morning. He takes lisinopril for high blood pressure, levothyroxine for hypothyroidism, and is a recreational marijuana user. I am concerned about him and wonder when/if he should see a doctor, and also wondering what might be causing these sudden symptoms.

Brief Answer:
Hospitalization and fluid replacement needed in case he can not retain any type

Detailed Answer:
Hi sharp.geanne,
Thanks for the query. Have read it&understand your concern.

He seems to have gastritis...(irritation of gastric mucosa). It can follow having a drink on empty stomach....without food following it./eating spicy food &over eating /eating leftover food(which might give infection ...here even loose motions accompany.

Maintenance of fluid&electrolyte balance is most important in his case...if he is not retaining any liquid or solid diet....with the vomiting of the severity he has....it becomes difficult to maintain at least water intake with ORT powder over the counter.
*Home care If he can digest liquids..he can be managed by home care(rest, drinking sufficient boiled&cooled water ./Adding ORT powder to water after each vomit.

* He should move to a hospital in case he can not drink sufficient water&ORT powder...&he needs iv fluid supplements .....

Please keep an eye on signs of dehydration(dry mouth, lips&eyes, wrinkled skin, feeling thirsty, giddiness, passing scanty and dark urine)...If some of these symptoms arise he should rush to the hospital.

I hope that answers your query. Any follow up query is welcome.
Thanks
