Hi, My Wife Has Endometriosis And This Month She Got
Question: Hi, my wife has endometriosis and this month she got her period about 5 days early. Shortly afterward, she started getting uncomfortable abdominal cramps accompanied by mucousy, loose bowel movements. We have read this is a common symptom in endometriosis, but it has been going on for about 5 days now since her period. We have a doc appt set up, just wanted to make sure she doesn't need to go in sooner. She acts normally, just a little weak from the 5-7 bowel movements a day (which are relatively small in size).

Hi,
Welcome.
I am Dr Ramadevi. I have read your concerns.
The bowel symptoms that you have mentioned usually occur during menstrual period. Is this the first time she has these complaints?
As menstruation stops, the symptoms also reduce.
So there is no need to go sooner. You can consult your doctor during the scheduled appointment. I suggest you get her MRI/ ultrasound done to know the extent of bowel infiltration of endometriosis.
If you have further concerns I will be happy to answer.

Hi,
As of now consult your GP and take tablets for the pain and to reduce stool frequency. She can try probiotics available at home such as curd / yogurt.
If it doesn’t stop with medications, then you may prepone your appointment.
If you have further concerns, do write to me
