Hi, My Wife Is 32 Weeks Pregnant And The SGPT
Question: Hi, my wife is 32 weeks pregnant and the SGPT and SGOT Levels 216 U/L and 107 U/L respectively. She did the LFT because she had mild itching over her body. Her blood sugar and blood pressure has always been in the normal range during her course of pregnancy. Is this normal? Does this effect the baby ?
Brief Answer:
It is due to cholestasis of pregnancy.
Detailed Answer:
Hello dear,
Thanks for trusting us about your healthcare.
I have gone through your history and understand your concern.
This raised liver enzyme due to cholestasis of pregnancy means bile increased during pregnancy and caused itching all over the body.
She can take antihistamines (eg. Cetirizine 5mg once daily) and Udiliv tablet after consulting her treating doctor.
She can apply coconut oil with camphor and Lactocalamine lotion for local application.
Hope you found this useful, feel free to ask for more information.
Good luck
Regards
