Hi, On January 12th, I Had Protected Sex With A

Question: Hi, on January 12th, I had protected sex with a condom because I’m not on birth control. He also pulled out. Nothing broke or went wrong with the condom, as far as I’m aware. The only worry I have is that I think I had sex during ovulation. I took a Plan B just in case, and 9 days later about a week before my period, I started spotting with period-like cramps. My period is due this week, and I’ve been light bleeding for around 6 days now. I took two pregnancy tests this morning and they both came out negative, but it might be too early to test. I know it’s really rare that I’d be pregnant, but I’m worried the bleeding I’m experiencing is implantation bleeding because it’s not heavy enough to fill an entire pad or tampon.

Hi,
Welcome to 'Ask a Doctor'. I am Dr Ramadevi Wani. I will be answering your concerns today.
I have read your notes in detail.
You do not seem to be pregnant. There can be variation in menstrual bleeding, when you take Plan B.
The bleeding you are having now seems to be your periods itself. On the due date of your period, get a pregnancy test again. If it is negative, you can be rest assured that you are not pregnant. In all probability it will be negative.

Best wishes,

See, normally, I would think so, but it’s such a weird flow so I’m not sure. The bleeding is super duper light, almost like spotting, and only really appears when I wipe. Occasionally, though, I’ll go to the bathroom, and I’ll see a huge drip of red blood. Would this be considered implantation bleeding?

Detailed Answer:
Hi,
Sorry for the delay in replying. Usually the implantation bleeding starts around 10th day after ovulation.
When you take Plan B in the first half of your menstrual cycle, your periods may start early.
On which date you had your last menstrual cycle? If I know this I can help you better.
Best wishes.

It’s my 8th day with this type of bleeding, though, which seems a little too long for Implantation bleeding.

Hi,
Welcome back.
Just get a pregnancy test done two days before the due date.
That will make things clear.
Best wishes.
