Question: Hi, please help me. I’m an 18 year old female. Last week I was diagnosed with a UTI and took co-amoxicillin for 5 days. A culture 2 days in showed no significant growth. Now, 2 days after finishing antibiotics I have the need to pee all the time but no other symptoms just that. My bladder muscles feel tight. I went to a doctor who did a dip test and said there was no infection so what is going on?

Brief Answer:
Consult with urologist.... Required further evaluation

Detailed Answer:
Hello,

I have gone through your query and here is my advice.

As per your history, there can be other causes for frequent urination which should get evaluated.

Please let me know do you have blood in urine, fever?

For further assessment, I would suggest you to consult with urologist for detailed clinical examination. He may procure ultrasound or computed tomography abdomen with pelvis, complete hemogram to rule out bladder stone or overactive bladder.

Second thing, ideally we have to wait for 7 days for confirmative culture results.

Mean while, continue antibiotics as advised. You may require tablet urimax after urologist consultation. Keep your self hydrated.

Hope I have answered your query.

Hi, no fever or pain or feeling of unwell XXXXXXX I’m not on antibiotics anymore, sorry if you misunderstood. The culture was taken over 7 days ago whilst still on antibiotics but my doctor is reluctant to prescribe whilst tests are coming back negative. I just have bladder pressure and random low back cramps.

Brief Answer:
may be due to renal stone...required further evaluation

Detailed Answer:
Hello,

Thank you for your reply.

As you are also having low back cramps along with frequent urination, it may be due to renal stone also. If culture report after 7 days showed no growth than it's less likely due to infection.

So, for further assessment, I would suggest you to consult with urologist for detailed clinical examination. He may procure ultrasound or computed tomography abdomen with pelvis to rule out renal/bladder stone or overactive bladder.

Further treatment mainly depends upon the underlying condition. Keep yourself hydrated

Hope I have answered your query.
