Hi There Doctor, I Will Like To Know Your Opinion
Hi there Doctor, I will like to know your opinion on my current health condition.
**Quick summary of my history: two years ago I ate a good at a restaurant and about an hour later I started to a cramp and pain on my left abdominal. Cramp continued. 3 or 4 days passed, no BM(bowel movement). Took fiber drinks. With a lot of pressure and force, I haf a BM and it was something called "Mucoid Plaque." It was painful and difficult to excrete. Constipation continued and I decided to see a doctor. I did full body test, blood, stool, Ultrasound, abdominal CT scan, and more. Doctor said everything in blood and stool was normal, and will call if something found on the scan. I didn't receive a call which means everything was ok. After doctor visit, my constipation gradually disappeared and everything became normal. 3 months ago, constipation came back and it was serious. First I had no BM for a week. Then continued to having no BM for 2, 3, 4 or 5 days. After that, I talked to a Doctor and told me to take ready to use enema. I did and nothing helped. Then he told me to use repositories. I did and the pill didn't help but the Anal repository helped. I continued using anal repository for several weeks. Increased fiber intake and fluid. Soon after, the repository wasn't working as good as it used to be.
* I decided to see a doctor and told me that I have SIBO. he didn't do no test or examination. Just told him my symptoms and history. Based on that, he concluded that my issue is SIBO. He prescribed me Rifaximin 550mg and Neomisen 500mg to be taken together twice daily. 2 pills from each, 8 total per day.
* Before taking the pills, I talked to another doctor and told me no to take the pills and to make a colonoscopy first. While this was going on, i requested my medical history report from my previous insurance, that way I can show this new doctors about my history. And, in the report, I found something that I can't explain. My CT scan report from 2 years ago was there, and it says " Colon full of Feces" which is a rephrased version of "Fecal Impaction." So I am concerned with this statement. I believe the Doctor never saw or checked the CT result. I should have gotten some sort of laxative or something to clean the colon.
* Now I am afraid, after 2 years, this issue might have gotten worse. What do you think of this result that I Just found out? It is from 2017.
* Do you think the result could lead to more severe or life threatening Illness? I was reading on WebMD and what they talk about Fecal Impaction is very scary. Please tell me your thoughts..
Thank you Dr.
Doctor missed a very important detail at that time...blunder!
Detailed Answer:
Hello and thank you for choosing Ask a Doctor service for your query,
Have gone through the details,
In my opinion, I definitely think the doctor missed a very important detail from your CT report.
Impaction means that the muscle in colon or rectoanal canal are not working properly(contraction and relaxation).
Two important causes can be-
Muscular weakness
Nerve weakness.
Due to negligence at that time very likely the problem has exaggerated now and that's why nothing is helping.
You should go for a colonoscopy without wasting time to rule out the cause of this severe impaction of feces.
Colonoscopy would reveal if the muscles are working properly or not .
Secondly a MRI abdomen should be done to rule out nerve problem or blood supply disturbance.
You should go for these tests immediately.
Definitely it was fault on part of your treating doctor to miss such a important detail.
Hope I was helpful.
follow ups are welcome.
I have Colonoscopy appointment on Friday. I will make an MRI appointment soon.
Are there possible methods to excrete the excessive feces?
I am just afraid that i don't want all this to lead me toward a surgery.
Thank you Dr!!
