Question: Hi there! For the past week, I’ve had nausea every single night and a loss of appetite. I went to my doctor and they think it might be acid reflux, so in order to prevent an ulcer they prescribed me with 10mg Omeprazole (the liquid form) for 4 weeks. After going online, I’m really concerned about the side effects (I have a phobia of vomit) and I’m wondering how to get off of it once the 4 weeks are up since I’ve heard that people get bad rebound from it. I was also wondering if a 10mg dose would lessen the possibility of getting side effects? Thank you!

Brief Answer:
It is a safe drug.

Detailed Answer:
Hello,
Thanks for the query.

Antacids of like Omeprazole is a very safe and widely prescribed drug. The side effects are minimal. There won’t be any rebound after withdrawal.

However, you have to get an endoscopy done to look for any lesion in the stomach.
You can sleep in a slightly head-up position to prevent reflux. Avoid spicy foods as well.

Anxiety can increase the severity of the symptoms.

Hope I have answered your query.
Thanks
