Hi There. I Am Age 51 (female) And Have Not

For the past 2 months (this is on and off) I have had bouts of nausea. No other systems. My favorite foods don't look good to me at all. I am better today but concerned.
The nausea and hot flashes seem to go hand in hand. I have lost 6 pounds in 10 days because I have just not been able to each much (again, today I am a lot better).
I am not in any pain, no diarreha (stools have been on the lighter side) and my temperature is normal. I don't take medication of any kind and relatively healthy.
Is this a common symptom of menopause?
Can be due to gastritis.
Detailed Answer:
Hello,
Thanks for posting your query.
I have gone through your query and understand your health concerns.
Hot flashes is a common symptom of menopause while nausea is not so common. The constant nausea that you feel can be related to gastritis or hiatus hernia or cholelithiasis. You need to have an ultrasound scan and upper GI endoscopy to find the exact cause. It makes sense to consult a gastroenterologist for the same .
Drugs like omeprazole and antacids along with prokinetic drugs like domperidone/itopride should help you in improving the symptoms.
In addition, you also need some strict life style modification like-
Avoid hot and spicy foods and beverages - they worsen symptoms.
If you smoke, stop smoking.
Lose weight if needed.
Eat small but frequent meals at regular intervals.
Avoid lying down immediately after a meal. A minimum of 2-3 hours should be lapsed after a meal.
Raise the head of your bed 6 to 8 inches by securing wood blocks under the bedposts. Just using extra pillows will not help.
I hope this answers your query.

I would have to somewhat dis-agree. I don't have any symptoms of a hernia or gastritis or cholelithiasis. I don't have stomach cramps, I am not in pain in any way. I don't have heartburn, diarrhea, acid reflux. I don't have a sense of fullness, trouble swallowing or any other symptoms which would lead me to believe any of those things are the problem. I don't have jaundice, etc. I am also 5' 4" and weigh normally 153 lbs. I was down to 147.6 and today back up to 149.4 so the weight loss is typical of not being able to eat much and today was much better.
Would I not have other symptoms outside of the ones I am experiencing below if this was the case. My urine is not dark or light (it is light yellow as it should be). My stools today were a little lighter but figured that was due to not eating much the past few days.
My only issue is the nausea and hot flashes (which today I have had any).
I have talked to several people who have had SEVERE nausea with menopause so although it is not as common as hot flashes and the typical symptoms one associates with menopause, it apparently is not as uncommon as people think.
I had this same feeling exactly 30 days ago and it lasted about 5 days so was thinking this is when my period would have normally came and my hormones are going haywire.
I lost my father to kidney cancer and my sister to lung cancer so I am a bit of a hypochondriac of sorts as freak out every time I feel "off" so was hoping for some confirmation this is not something serious.
What do you think.

Can be related to hormonal changes.
Detailed Answer:
Hello.
Thanks for writing again.
The symptoms that you have described could be related to menopause and changes in the hormones. If the symptoms are intermittent then it is likely to be related to minor hormonal issues. This is not likely to be a serious issue or related to cancer. No need to worry. Doing some dietary changes will also help.
Hope my answer is helpful.
