Hi There, I Had Covid In March. I Am Super

Question: Hi there,

I had covid in march. I am super healthy. I felt like I had heart palpitations after covid so I went to do ekg and echocardiogram.

The doctor said my heart is strong and fine.

I am 34 male, moderately active. All my blood results came back perfect.

I’ve been monitoring my heart rate and it seems to be high even when just walking up the stairs. It goes to about 125.

I recently saw the results of my heart and it said certain things that were troubling to me even though the cardiologist said it was nothing to worry about.

I’ve attached some images for reference of my bpm and results.

Thank you, XXXXXXX

Brief Answer:
Your reports are fine

Detailed Answer:
Hello,
Now if you are referring to the ECG findings, then I guess you have seen the machine generated report, which is frequently inaccurate and not reliable. Now some of those like pulmonary hypertension/ disease pattern or possibility of right atrial enlargement are already been ruled out on echo, so nothing to worry about it. Echo is a choice of investigation for these abnormalities. And left anterior fascicular block even if it's there, it's not a major issue.
Regarding heart rate going up, its related to deconditioning. So if you don't have any significant symptoms like breathlessness on exertion, then probably it's not a worrisome issue and with gradual exercises, peak heart rate with activities will come down.
So there are no significant abnormalities on your reports.
Hope this helps you and get back if you have any doubts.

Thank you so much. I do have something to add.

After this mornings 3 minute stair test after about 10 minutes i noticed a bit of blood in my saliva. It was very little but still there. It might have gone away already

Brief Answer:
Needs oral examination

Detailed Answer:
You are welcome.
Blood in saliva is altogether different issue and its not related to heart.
This needs evaluation and most of the times, its oral cavity lesions like ulcers, gum bleeds etc, however you should get your oral examined once for local lesion, by any local practitioner.
All the best.

Hi Doctor,

Thank you for these. I do have a question. They are talking about ‘long-haulers’ with people who have had covid having difficulty going up the stairs, random palpitations.

I too get out of breath and have random heart palpitations/my heart starts beating fast out of nowhere.

Is doing cardio to improve this dangerous?

Brief Answer:
You may for cardio

Detailed Answer:
Hello,
After so many months, it's very rare to be long haulers, rather deconditioning is more likely explanation. Long haulers usually persist for not more than few months. Also it's more common with severe infection.
Now you should gradually resume activities and may even begin cardio, which should be gradually escalated. If you are not able to perform activities or getting too breathless then we will need to test your lungs for fibrosis. I guess your doctor must had auscultated for obvious signs of fibrosis. Subsequently you may pulmonary function test, chest xray or HRCT, if you remains symptomatic.

Hi,

Thank you. I have had a chest xray and was told everything was fine.

What is a good amount of time to start cardio exercises daily?

Thank you so much, XXXXXXX

Brief Answer:
It depends on your tolerance

Detailed Answer:
Welcome
So it's all right.
The time varies from individual to individual, and it's mostly depends upon your tolerance. since you are young without comorbidities, slight up and down in the extent of activities wouldn't be an issue. To begin with, you should do activities till you notice moderate level of exhaustion, and important is gradually increase the activities which are tolerated well. Objectively, you are allowed to reach your heart upto 70 percent and gradually increasing upto 85 percent of maximum heart rate ( 186 is maximum heart rate at your age) over few months.
Should have exercise three or more days per week and total of around 150 min per week atleast.
All the best.
