Hi There, I Have Major Anxiety About Getting Rabies From

Question: Hi there,
I have major anxiety about getting rabies from bats. I have a bite on my leg that swelled like a mosquito bite and was itch like one too, the swelling only lasted a few hours after I started itching it. I’m scared this was maybe not a mosquito but a bat bite now. Do bite bites ever act or look anything like mosquito bites? Or are they more painful than itchy? Also, if I was awake would I be aware if a bat came and bit me? I always feel little pricks through your the day and every time I do my head tells me it’s a bat.

Brief Answer:
It’s not a bat bite
Detailed Answer:
Hi
Welcome to ask a doctor service
I have gone through your query and reviewed the attached photographs.
These are not looking like bat bites.
It seems to be mosquito or bed bug hypersensitivity reaction.
Bat bites tend to be painful and intensely erythematous and tender while mosquitoe bites are only itchy.
They are not painful.
Also you will come to know when a bat bites you.
