Hi There, I’m 38 And Worried About A Few Things.

Question: Hi there, I’m 38 and worried about a few things. Ever since I had my first child 7 and a half years ago I have had recital bleeding. It was severe for first 6 months and then got better but still bled from time to time. This was exacerbated after next child 5 years ago. I’d say I bleed a lot lessthan I used to but still happens once a month if it’s a hard stool but not as much as before. I got diagnosed with grade 1 haemorrhoid after first child and I have external piles too. I suffer from SIBO/Ibs and have wind although this is much better when I am following a fodmap diet. I go to the loo every morning when I rise pretty much and in general stools are easy to pass with no straining. Stools are normally soft but formed. I’m worried about colon/rectal cancer. I have no weight loss.

Brief Answer:
Hemorrhoids and colon cancer are different medical conditions.

Detailed Answer:
Hello dear and welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service. I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.

Hemorrhoids are a common symptom after giving birth.

Your symptoms seem to our be related to external hemorrhoids.

I suggest using anti hemorrhoid cream for local application such as Preparation H.

I also recommend using a stool softener such as Docusate daily.

I recommend to eat a fiber rich diet and drink a lot of liquids.

Colon cancer and hemorrhoids are very different conditions and are rarely related to each other, so you should not be worried about it.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Brief Answer:
Irregular bowel habits are commonly related to IBS.

Detailed Answer:
Hi again dear,

The irregular bowel habits are probably related to irritable bowel syndrome.

I recommend to eat a fiber rich diet and drink a lot of liquids.

I also recommend taking daily probiotics.

For your mid calmness you can do a colonoscopy to exclude definitely the possibility of colon cancer.
