Hi There. I’m Having A Sexual Health Issue. Recently, My

She sees her doctor. Is diagnosed with HSV1. They initially say it was probably stress related because she’d been throwing a big event that weekend, and could have caught it a while ago. She doesn’t mention to the doctor that I’ve now gotten sores too. She apologizes and says sorry if I gave it to you. I’m ok with it.
When she returns to the doctor, the doctor tells her I likely gave them to her orally i.e. I’d had it on my mouth. She’s now fully blaming me for it all. But she failed to tell her doctor that I’d gotten genital symptoms after she I was exposed to her genitals which had symptoms already.
My question is - if I gave it to her from my mouth why am I now getting my first ever outbreak on my genitals? Wouldn’t I have some degree of immunity? It seems more likely to me that she had it, stress brought it on, then I caught it because we had sex when was having her primary outbreak?
It’s causing a real rift in our relationship so I’d love some feedback.
Thank you!
Do IgG and Igm tests for HEV2
Detailed Answer:
Hello dear , welcome to Ask a doctor's service.
I read your query and here is my advice.
I think the symptoms she is having may be related to HSV 2 ( herpes genitalis) more than hsv 1 (herpes labialis) . HSV 2 gives symptoms typically in genital area rather than mouth .
There is not a certain way to prove exactly which is sending the infection to the other because HSV2 can stay for long without symptoms.
Doing HSV 2 IgG and IgM can give an idea of who got it first. If you are having only IgM you have been infected recently and if you are having IgG and IgM you have been infected firstly and are having another outbreak now.
If you are having only IgG you had a contact in past but don't have symptoms now.
Anyway it is not much important who gave it to the other. The main issue is to get cured and continue your love life as usual.
Taking acyclovir tablets orally can make your symptoms go away faster.
Wear cotton underwear 'take NSAIDS for pain and discomfort
Hope I have answered the question.
Let me know if I can assist you further.
