Question: Hi there,

Little bit of a weird and embarrassing one here. So earlier I was laying down and masturbating when I noticed my right testicle was moving upward into my groin area and out of the "sac." I checked the left one and it was in its normal spot. Just wondering if this is irregular and if I should get it checked out?

Thanks!

Brief Answer:
It is normal for a testicle to move up- details below

Detailed Answer:
Hello and welcome to "Ask a Doctor" service,

I carefully read your query and here is my advice.

The cremaster muscle is responsible for testicles moving up from the sac in the scrotum.
This may happen by stimulation (physical or emotional), so it is normal for the testicle to move up in the scenario that you described.

If the testicle does not descend to its normal position or you have any discomfort or new symptoms, please see your doctor. An ultrasound examination may be indicated in this case.

I hope this answers your query. I remain at your disposal in case further medical assistance is needed.

Kind regards,
