Hi There, My 5 Year Old Son Is Hypermobile Based

Question: Hi there,
My 5 year old son is hypermobile based on the beighton score and I have been looking at the Hypermobility Elhars Danlos Syndrome 2017 criteria.
He passes criteria 1 and 3 but not criteria 2 apart from having quite stretchy skin on his face, neck, arms and tummy. Should HEDS still be considered because of the stretchy skin?
Thank you

Detailed Answer:
hi
there is a possibility of hypermobility, however the spectrum of disorders associated with hypermobility is huge, they are also associated with certain genes which cannot all be tested, so he definitely has hypermobility, however may not be classified as ehler danlos, unless his genetic study is also done which is required for the other forms, not for HEDS.since since he is not fulfilling all the criteria for HEDS, he cannot be classified as having HEDS.

Thank you for your reply.
He doesn’t seem to have any other symptoms at this stage.
Could it be possible to have stretchy skin without an underlying issue at all?
Thank you
