Hi There. My Boyfriend Came Up With Intense Vomiting And

Question: Hi there. My boyfriend came up with intense vomiting and diarrhea from 2am until noon on Thursday the 24th. He felt completely back to normal on Friday (25th). He ate the same foods as the rest of his family the day before, but ate a lot that day. His mom cared for him during the time he was sick and no one in their household got whatever he had (he was with his mom, dad, grandmother and uncle). He also had a very low grade fever (100.4), although this only lasted for a few hours. He also had a headache and slept most of the day. I waited until Monday the 28th to see him. We have had direct contact since then. He has been diligently washing his hands and disinfected anything that may have been near him while he was ill. We have been together for a little over 24 hours now and I’m feeling completely fine. Do you think I am in the clear? I am only worried about this because we were never completely sure if this was food related or viral. He is 21 yr and a type 1 diabetic.

Brief Answer:
May be food related but not viral.

Detailed Answer:
Hello
Welcome To Ask A Doctor Service
I have gone through your question, I understand your concern.
As he is type one diabetic patient his pancreas may be weak compared to others that is why when hr ate excessive amount of food he could not digest that and developed vomiting and all other symptoms.
Fever may be present due to any stressful condition or acute inflammation so there is no involvement of any virus. do not worry it is most probably due to excessive intake of food which could not be digested.
Now you do not have to worry for yourself.
Second thing get serum amylase serum lipase test done of your boyfriend to know the status of his pancreas and also so CT abdomen to rule out chronic pancreatitis.

I hope your query is clear now.
Thanks and regards
