Hi, This Is A Stupid And Embarrassing Question. Last Night

Question: Hi, this is a stupid and embarrassing question. Last night I had a wet dream without realizing it, and this morning when I went to the bathroom and had a bowel movement, I may have gotten some mostly dried seminal fluid on my hand before I cleaned up after the bm with toilet paper and flushed the toilet. The stupid question is: is it possible to give an STD to yourself if you don't have one? In other words, if there was any semen on my hand that could have gotten close to (or in) the rectum, could that cause any potential problems, or am I worrying about nothing?

Brief Answer:
You can transmitt them

Detailed Answer:
Hello dear, welcome to Ask a doctor service.
I read your query and here is my advice.
If you don't have any STD you don't have to worry about transmitting them to yourself if you touch rectum.
If you have STD and with your hands you touch genitals and then rectum the disease can be spread to rectum too ( as if you were in a homosexual relationship).

The symptoms may vary greatly from the kind of sexually transmitted disease you are referring too.

Hope I have answered the question.
Let me know if I can assist you further.
