Question: History: My aunt was diagnosed with T2N0M0 breast carcinoma in XXXXXXX 2017 and got operated on 9th XXXXXXX 2017. Tumor was 3cm, ER+, PR+, HER2--. Quadrantectomy done with axillary dissection. TC*4 chemo given with 21 days radiation. Chemo completed on 27th March, 2017. Radiation completed on 26th May, 2017. Currently on Femara, Almighty tablets twice a day.

She was also treated for post operational pain in her hand by a neurologist till recently and was taking Eliwel 10mg half tablet everyday before she stopped the medication based on the suggestion by her oncologist. Earlier she was taking both Duvanta and Eliwel before neurologist stopped Duvanta and told to continue only with Eliwel 10mg half tablet.

But now she is complaining about lack of sleep and also some kind of radiating pain in her arm after she stopped taking this medicine.

She also seems to have some tension in her mind about the disease and few other factors which is also contributing to her sleeplessness. However, with Eliwel 10mg half tablet she used to sleep well. She does daily walking, yoga to keep her active and on healthy food as well. Kindly suggest what can be done for her sleep disorder which seems be a major problem now.

Brief Answer:
Nortryptiline 10 mg can be used

Detailed Answer:
Hello,
Thanks for using Healthcaremagic.

I read your query and understand your concerns.

From the available description it appears that your aunt is worried after the diagnosis of breast carcinoma and needed medication in one or another form over the last two years.

It is also clear that Eliwel worked well for her condition but stopped due to interaction with current medications as advised by treating oncologist.

In the current scenario where tension as well as sleep disturbance is ongoing problem I feel following medications can be considered.

1. Nortryptiline 10 mg- It is similar to Eliwel but does not have potential side effects like Eliwel. In other words it is much safer that Eliwel.

2. Clonazepam 0.25 mg - It is sleep medication which can take care of tension as well. It is advcisable to use on need basis rather than regular basis.

Both the medications are prescription only medications and should be used under supervision of your doctor. Any of the two option can be used for current problem in consultation with your doctor.

I hope this helps you.
Feel free to write back to me if you have more questions.
Thanks and regards.
