Hit Head On Floor. Feeling Foggy In Forehead Region. Suffered Concussion. Should I Be Worried? Doctor?

Question: my son has hit his head on the floor playing with friends around 5pm this evening and saw a flash of green and red colors. He stated he felt a little foggy in forehead region however now states he feels about normal. He has no head ache although he says his eyes feel more strain when watching T.V than normal. FYI: He suffered a concussion last September from football. He is 12 and I'm wondering if this constitutes another concussion event? FYI: He is on the all star baseball team and he thinks he can practice tomorrow just fine. We have a ton of games coming up this weekend. Should I take him to a doctor or just see how he feels tomorrow and if no signs proceed with normal life? Thank you. XXXXXXX

Hi,

Thanks for query,

At this point, I do foresee any serious concerns. But I would be a little concerned if symptoms continues to persist.

Transient color flashes can occur in any injury to the head. However as there are no loss of consciousness or memory around the event; persistent headache and vomiting; nose bleed or ear bleed; etc.,. you may relax. This does not seem as concussion and he will proceed to remain normal.

However if bizarre symptoms continue to persist, I would definitely advise you to visit his doctor and plan for investigations.

Hope this answers your query. Let me know if you need clarifications.

Regards
