How Are Cystoscopy And BCG Therapy Performed In A Patient With Recurring Bladder Tumors?
I had BCG treatmenst after each one. My last cystoscopy was Sept, 2017. My next one April 2018, My question is what is protocol for both cystoscopy and BCG for my condition and who established both?
Cystoscopy is to be done every six months.
Detailed Answer:
Hello,
Based on the facts that you have posted you seem to have been diagnosed to have bladder tumors which have been resected by an endoscopic procedure of TURBT and was followed by Intra Vesical installation of BCG.
Superficial bladder tumors have a tendency to recur even after they are resected completely hence it is international protocol to do an endoscopic examination of the bladder (Cystoscopy) to confirm the recurrence and resect the tumor if it is there till the time the three successive endoscopic examinations reveal that there is no recurrence.
Use of BCG in early non-invasive bladder tumors was initiated by an XXXXXXX Urologist Morales and his colleagues in 1976.
Hope I have answered your query, please feel free to ask if you have more questions, I shall be happy to help you.

My tree tumors were different. Are you saying after three successful cryoscopy from last tumor cystoscopy is no longer needed or is the schedule changed?
Timor can recur even after a few years.
Detailed Answer:
Hello,
Bladder tumor can recur even after few years Hence one has to get cystoscopy done if one gets irritative bladder symptoms or blood in urine.
It is general protocol to differ cystoscopy if three successive endoscopic exams are negative.
But it is always safe to get it done every year.
Hope I have answered your query.
