Brief Answer:
Upper respiratory tract infection

Detailed Answer:
Hello and Welcome

I appreciate your concern

.There are a number of symptoms but the infectious foci in the throat are likely to be the cause. The congestion symptoms indicate rhinosinusitis. I do not agree with the choice of the empirical antibiotics. A quinolone such as levofloxacin 500 mg once a day would have been a better option covering for both pharyngitis and sinusitis.

The weight loss is significant and should be kept an eye upon. Chest x ray, complete blood count , ESR/CRP and a basic metabolic panel should also be advised as part of the workup in consultation with your doctor.

STD and other counts when available can be shared here to comment further.

Wishing you best of health

Detailed Answer:
Hello again

HIV can present initially with a flu like illness but that is not a specific criteria. One must get tested to be more sure and rule it out.

In case of protected /safe sex the probability of transmission would be low.
