Question: HI I HAVE A PROBLEM, I TAKE ADDERALL IR 20MG TID FOR ADHD and nacolepsy, last time I picked up my rx at cvs I started to get a reaction of white patches in my mouth, I called myelin the naked and told them and the asked me to send the pills to them, my problem is I told the doctor about it and she said that she was stopping the med and also my Xanax and laic and to find a specialist this doesn't make any sense the myelin Adderall ism under pending recall. how am I going to explain that after 10 years on this med I am so sick from withdrawal its only been the to times got the med from myelin

I can't quit cold turkey how do I explain that she has no reason to do this it just because the two times mylan gave me the reaction . she has never mention that she had a problem with prescriptionon these meds

sorry for the miss spellings , I have spoken to medicaid and they informed me that they will not pay for a psychiatrist because , in my situation I have always had a pap take care because my meds are working fine after being diagnosed by the ADHD center this sounds like a cop to for no reason

Consultation

Detailed Answer:
Hello, and thanks for your question.

It is not unreasonable for your doctor to insist on a psychiatrist consultation for these medications. Medicaid absolutely will cover a psychiatrist consultation.

I would find a psychiatrist in your area who accepts Medicaid. Furthermore, withdrawal from Adderall may be uncomfortable but is not dangerous, so you do not need to be worried about a serious medical complication.

Detailed Answer:
It is true you should not stop Xanax cold turkey. However, a doctor always has a right not to prescribe medication if they don't feel comfortable doing so. You should seek out consultation with a psychiatrist. If you experience withdrawal symptoms from Xanax, you can always visit an emergency room for emergent treatment.
