Brief Answer:
Vaccum ear wax removal can be done at home
Detailed Answer:
Hello,
Ear wax removal with vacuum or suction can be done by yourself at home.
Apply Debrox ear drops twice daily for 5 days which will help soften the wax. On the 6th day you can use vacuum ear wax remover to suck out the wax.
If you are not comfortable doing it at home, follow up with your local clinic or primary provider who can do the procedure.
Hope this answers your question.
Please let me know if you need further clarification.

I'm not sure this solution will work for me now. Two years ago my primary care physician told me to use Debrox ear drops to soften the wax. I did and got much worse in my left ear in terms of plugged-up-ness. I went to an urgent care and they tried to wash out the wax and made the problem even worse. I had to go to an ENT specialist, and he vacuum cleaned my wax out. It worked fine. But, I need to get it done by vacuuming cleaning again now. Any suggestions?

Detailed Answer:
Hi,
The feeling of worsening plugging is common while using Debrox drops. It is nothing to be worried about. However. If you are not comfortable using the Debrox drops, you can just use baby oil with an applicator.
It is important to use some kind of oil to soften the wax before vacuum ear cleaning can be done.
For getting the vacuum cleaning done, you can follow up with primary care provider or urgent care and specifically ask for the procedure. Explain to then that ear washing caused you trouble in the past and that you prefer vacuum suction cleaning.
So please be advised to follow up with your nearest primary care provider or urgent care. You do not need to consult a specialist.
