Question: Hello doctor
After a long journey of 6 months of undiagnosed nausea, dizziness, light sensitivity, headache and motion sensitivity, I finally diagnosed with vestibular migraine ..

How can I start managing the disease? What should I eat and what shouldn't ? Also what is the best medication to start with during vertiginous attack and as prophylaxis also?

Thanks

Brief Answer:
Avoid triggers, drugs that may be used listed below.

Detailed Answer:
Hello,
If there are frequent episodes of vestibular migraine, drugs ( such as beta-blockers, calcium channel blockers, topiramate, antidepressants, antihistamines, etc. ) should be used.

Vestibular migraines can be reduced by maintaining regular sleep and meal schedule, knowing and avoiding triggers like chocolate, cheese, alcohol, etc. exercising regularly, and managing stress.

For the vertiginous attack, meclizine for example may help.

Prophylaxis is achieved by regular use of beta-blockers, calcium channel blockers, etc.

Discuss with your Neurologist for a drug prescription to control vestibular migraines.
