Hi XXXXXXX
Thanks for the query over Health care magic platform. I have read it & understand your concern.
I think you have Chalazion...because it's away from the eye lashes &s It is not cancerous.. please don't be scared.
You are interested in it's management.. let me summarize it in short for you.
i) In acute phase the Chalazion is treated by local antibiotic eye drops ( Chloremphinicol ) .. by a long use it is mostly cured in 2-3 months. Hot compresses applied 3 times a day, hasten the process of healing.. do it after a doctor's advise after checking it up.
Massaging is not advisable. It is not cancerous.
Many a times it disappears virtually over a period of 2 years.
2) Small sized Chalazon may be treated with local injection of steroids.
3) Surgery- Chalazion removal by surgery is a day time procedure , done under local anesthesia. Depending on the site , size & duration- it can be performed by a small incision from skin or inside of eye lid. The procedure involves working on eye lid only.. so no chance of injury to eye/ nerve supply to eye. if you are in expert hands. Scar mostly does not hamper looks.Antibiotics to avoid infection follow.
Change in corneal shape due to chalasion's pressure on cornea( astigmatism ) can be corrected by shaping of cornea with laser surgery .
You will now understand that the treatment is not at all tedious... only thing needed is to stick to doctor's advise.
* I would advise consultation of an Ophthalmologist & get his guidance & help to ease your problem.
Hope the answer was informative & useful to you. Any follow up query is welcome.
Thanks
Will it come to a head and drain on its own? I want to try to squeeze it..but I know that can not be good for it! Thanks so much!!
Follow doctor's advise. Don't disturb healing process by squeezing.

Hi XXXXXXX
Thanks for the follow up query,
Swellings on the eye lid are inflammations of skin structure.from oil secreting gland/ hair root .taking a cyst form-( encapsulated swelling )
Any way it's good that you have consulted an Eye doctor... & started specific treatment after actual checking of the swelling. Steroid would be helpful in bringing down the inflammation & antibiotic would control the infection.. both the drugs compliment each other for fast relief.
* With the treatment the swelling-
- would either resolve completely to give a fast recovery without any pus formation. OR the swelling would reduce considerably, infection under control thus reducing the swelling to a very small pustule.. which would point out & rupture by itself.
* In such condition it is not advisable to squeeze( the lesion. for it may irritate & restart the process of inflammation. Fomentation while cleaning with warm swab is sufficient.
I would suggest you follow doctor's advise strictly (to continue with the medicines & cleaning eye with a cotton swab dipped in warm& clean water followed by eye drops.).
Wait & watch for the drugs to act & help you healing... It should hardly take 5- 7 days maximum. If not doctor may add oral antibiotics.
I hope that answers your query. Any follow up query you have please feel free to ask.
Thanks.
