How Can A Bump On The Knee Be Treated?

default
Posted on Thu, 2 Feb 2017
Question: I have a bump on my knee. I had dropped a pen under the refrigerator, so I knelt down to get it (I dropped down kinda hard onto a stone floor), and when I stood up, my knee felt weird. I lifted my pant leg up, and there was a golf ball sized bump on my knee. It didn't really hurt at all except on the edges, but it only felt bruised. The swelling has gone down but theres still a decent sized bump, and theres still a bit of bruising. Is it just fluid? Can i get rid of it myself, or do I have to get it drained?

Brief Answer:
Can reduce if less than 3 cm.

Detailed Answer:
Hello,
Thanks for posting your query.
The presence of bump and bruise in the area is suggestive of a hematoma formation. If the swelling is less than 3cm in diameter then it will reduce on its own. In case the swelling is bigger than this or is gradually increasing in size then you need to get it examined.
I hope this answers your query.
