How Can A Lesion On The Right Side Of The Abdomen Be Treated?
Question: I have a "large" lesion on my right side of abdomen. No pain but moderate itching. PCP initially diagnosed as
skin infection with 4 day prescription. No help. 3weeks later same lesion, but with fluid secretion. No additional lesions, but multiple what at first considered bug bites. No relief, however, with common bug formulations. Doctor client (ENT) suspects singles, and prescribed Valacyclovir Hydrochloride 500 mg, hydrocortisone cream and predison tablets. Earliest appointment with Derm is 3 weeks. (1) Can or should I engage in normal routine including outside activity, (2) Should I continue with the proferred medications, (3) am I contagious with other family members? Thank you! XXXXXXX

I have reviewed the attached photographs and it seems to be either an insect bite reaction or an eczematous patch.
It doesn't look like shingles at all.
If I was your treating doctor I would recommend you to apply a potent topical steroid like clobetasol propionate cream on the affected areas twice daily and take antihistaminic like tablet Cetrizine 10 mg once daily at bedtime.
Steroidal preparations are prescription drugs and you need to see the doctor in person to get them.
You can continue with your routine activity including outdoor activities.
You are not contagious to anyone.
No need to take valciclovir. You can continue with prednisolone tablets and hydrocortisone cream.
