How Can A Nasal Polyp Be Treated?

Question: Hi Doctor,
I have a nasal block on my right nostril alone due to a completely infected small polyp. my doctor has prescribed some tabs and xylomine spray for a week, post which we will decide if surgery is needed or not. if surgery is needed, will it completely cure and prevent reoccurrence of the polyp? is there an alternate way to cure this?

Hi
Welcome to Healthcare Magic and thanks for putting up the query
Any nasal polyp can be treated only by surgery. it must be removed by endoscopic sinus surgery.
Pre operative medicines and nasal spray help to decongest and will be better to operate on.
There is no alternative rather than surgery but make sure that alongwith alongside the nasal part of polyp, the sinus should be cleaned as well. It will minimise the recurrence chances to almost nil. I must tell you that once a nasal polyp patient, the patient always has a propensity for recurrence.
You can send me your CT SCAN FILMS SO that I can suggest you better.
Any further questions are always welcome.
Take care
Thanks and regards
