How Can A Swelling At The Base Of The Neck Be Treated?
Question: I have swelling at base of neck above collarbone on each side, with pain in neck, moving from arm to arm. Doctor took xrays of cervical spine. I do have osteoarthritis. What is the swelling though?
Brief Answer:
They most likely represent bony outgrowths. Can you please send the report?
Detailed Answer:
HI,
With the history of osteoarthritis, this most likely represents a bony outgrowth. These are commonly known as osteophytes and are characteristic of longstanding osteoarthritis. I believe this was visible on the report and if you can forward it to me, I will be able to take a look and further confirm with you.
I hope this helps. I wish you well. I hope to hear from you at your earliest convenience.
