Detailed Answer:
Hi,
Well, Clindamycin may aggravate colitis and cause so called pseudomembranous colitis which is usually not serious. But if you experience blood and mucous in stool or fever, then Clindamycin should be discontinued.
Also, I suggest to take wound swab for microbiological analysis to detect exact bacteria causing infection. Generally, it is better to have ointment and silicone-antiseptic based compresses for wounds than oral antibiotics if you ask me, unless there is severe wound infection.
Wish you good health.

I am particularly concerned about Clostridium Difficile as a result of using this medicine and would much prefer a topical application as you suggested. A wound swab was done.
Thank you for your advice.

Detailed Answer:
Hi,
Yes, Clostridium difficile is causing pseudomembranous colitis that I have mentioned but it would go with symptoms such as fever, mucous bloody diarrheas. In this case you would need Metronidazole therapy.
In every case, even if there are no such symptoms, you should have easier diet, take probiotics and more fluids during antibiotic therapy. I would wait for swab results and then take specific antibiotic if necessary rather then starting Clindamycin.
I hope everything will be fine. If you have any questions feel free to ask.
Regards
