How Can Abdominal Pain And Loose Stools In A Child Be Treated?

Question: Dear Doctor,
My son is 5 years of Age. Day One he had pain the stomach and also went to the loo 4-5 times. Vomitted once. We took him to his usual doctor who prescribed Taxim O DT-100 posts stool analysis and Econorm. He also suggested a stool test.
Day 2 my son went to potty only two times and is feeling normal. Did not vommit. I took his sample only the second time he went to the loo and picked up the sample from his toilet pot. His stool test results are as follows . Pus Cells- 4-5 . Reaction Acidic. No RBC . No other worm.
He is eating normally now. Should I start his antibiotic?

Brief Answer:
I won't suggest you to give antibiotic if not given already
Detailed Answer:
Hi
Thanks for asking on this platform
Pain abdomen and loose stool in this age can be due to bacterial/viral infection or due to transient intolerance to any food item.
The stool test shows only 4-5 pus cells and there are no RBCs. Presence of more than 5-10 pus cells in stool is considered to be significant and suggests some bacterial infection or inflammation.
If you have not started antibiotic yet then I won't suggest you to start it as the symptoms have subsided and stool test is also not very much suggestive.
I hope this helps.
Please let me know if you have any more questions.
Regards
