How Can An Infected Wound Be Treated?

Question: I had an ibeam hit the front of my left, 6" below the knee. It exposed the bone. It healed well, however there is a 3"x6" patch of skin that feels as though there is fluid underneath. The skin around the injury is hard and i have no sensation around the injury. It has been three weeks. Other than the pain felt with the initial injury, there has been no feeling. I dont have insurance so i needed advice based in the description above whether or not i should have it xrayed and seek medical attention to avoid permanent damage.
Brief Answer:
Get xray done.
Detailed Answer:
Hi,
I have read your query.
In my opinion atleast you need xray of that part and send me the report.
Sometimes the bone underneath the injury also get infected, which is a painless condition.
I also advise you to visit orthopedic surgeon, so that he can do your physical and local examination of that part.
Your surgeon may also advise you antibiotics if needed.
I hope you got the answer.
Thanks,

I appreciate your direct answer. I recently lost my job and health insurance, so i am trying to be smart and direct about the money I am about to spend to get the result I need. I should have explained this in my initial question. I am well versed in medical billing and how my uninsured ass fits into the healthcare system. Broken 54 bones and broken my neck C1 -C7 5 times over the course of 30 years. I find myself uninsured and in need of direct and inexpensive advice as to the direction i should take. I have not had an injury of this nature and at my age 43, i am concerned about blood clots and the like.
Thank you.
Thank you.
Brief Answer:
Apply crepe bandage.
Detailed Answer:
Hi,
Thanks, for the response my friend.
As a doctor friend I advise you to just a single visit to doctor and xray, I know you don't have insurance.
If there is no discharge of fluid from injured site then there is no problem at all.
Whether there is blood clot or any fluid underneath, is only finalized by seeing the wound or by locally palpating the site of injury, that's why I ask you to visit the doctor, as sometimes only aspiration of that fluid will cure the whole thing.
If still you don't want to go then you can apply crepe bandage over that site, as it will act by compression and thus fluid my get resorbed.
I hope you got the answer.
