Question: My son, 32, went to the doctor today for back and testicle pain. He has also been struggling with swollen prostate. The doctor wrote a prescription for doxycycline because he's just not sure what the problem is. Blood and urine tests all come back fine. We are wondering if he can continue to take an herbal supplement he's been taking for his swollen prostrate. His doctor said it would be fine but I'm a mother that worries. The herbal supplement is Prostavol. He has been taking saw palmetto and really starting see good results.

Brief Answer:
Supportive care

Detailed Answer:
Thank you for asking

I read your question and i understand your concern. Back and testicular pain with prostate involvement is likely prostatitis, and needs supportive care with antibiotics. Herbal products like saw palmetto helps with prostate and its hesitancy, urgency frequency symptoms. History of trauma is the likely cause of this discomfort recurrence and supportive care is all one need. Staying hydrated to clear and flush out the urogenital tract will help. Also prostavol helps in complete emptying of prostate so it should help. If the doctor has reassured of the things turning good, then supportive care is all you need and there is nothing to worry about. Wait and observe and if the symptoms persist then your urologist will look for other options depending on the state of prostate and the urethral tract passing through it.
I hope it helps. Take good care of yourself and dont forget to close the discussion please.
