How Can Blood Sugar And Blood Pressure Levels Be Regulated In An Elderly Person?
Question: Hi
I am 73 yrs old,T2DM 18 years,under control,taking Zoryl 1mg 11/2-0-1,gakvas50 0-1-1,cilacar10mg 1-0-0;telma40 0-0-1,urimax 0.4,rosuvas10 0-0-1 (alt days),supradyn 1-0-0,methycobalmin 50 mg 0-0-1 daily.My sugar level fbs 156,ppbs 150 to 170 and HbA1c 7.8. I do exercise,walking ,take care of diet .weight 73 to 75 kg,
Fat at belly only.My calcium in blood is 11and pth is 80 I am going to show it to doctor here.My creatinine 1.04
And other kidney test normal.My bop system 145/60 at home and at doc,s office 155/75.The cardiologist says it is due to Isolated syst hypertension and want me to stop Telma and start olmesartan 40 and concor 5 mg whereas daibetologist is against Lomé and beta blocker.No heart prob,ecg normal.In view of this I want good advice on B P medicines which could help me to reduce syst bp only with much side effects.can u pl guide me in this matter and suggest how to control syst b p and any other suggestions.

Your lab parameters are almost within normal limits and no need to worry though your blood sugar levels are borderline.
Considering your age and diabetes status, your blood pressure level have to be reduced to 130 over 90. Angiotensin receptor blockers are the best drugs for you. Telmisartan or newer drugs like olmesartan is the best. If the BP is not controlled additional drugs like diuretics preferably hydrochlor thiazides may be added. None among them contraindicated in diabetes and side effects are minimal.
As of now do regular exercises, drink plenty of water and reduce salt intake.

I am taking telma40 and cilacar10 daily.Diabetic doctor says telma and olmesartan belongs to the same group and switchover to olme may not help.wat is ur view on this .Plus should cilacar10 should continue? Is it necessary to add third drug viz diuretic for diabetics.Thank you for your prompt reply
