Question: I am a 51 year old woman. I have broken Capillaries on my ankle foot leg region on both sides. Predominantly in the right side.
I am 5’6” tall and weigh 190lbs.
The right calf is tender to the touch at times.
My work commands a lot of standing and lifting.
I’m concerned about these broken Capellaries and what looks like bruising around a Scar from a Surgery I had when I was 9.
This area is also tender.
The surgery I had at 9 was for Ostoemylatis. There are two location on my right leg. One is right above the Ankle the other outside Upper Thigh. The Doctors has to go in and scrape the bones place me in a body cast from under the breasts down the full right torso/hip/leg area and down the left leg from torso/hip to above the knee area with a rod place between the legs at the Thight level to stabilize the right leg while healing. This surgery was performed at “Orthopedic Hospital in 1976.
My concerns are are there any blood clots as well.
When I go to bed at night a lot of the discoloration is gone by morning. The discoloration on and below the scar on my right leg is darker red/purple like a bruise doesn’t go away.
Trying to get referred to a Doctor who Specializes in the leg area.

Any thoughts and or suggestions.

Brief Answer:
Diagnosis: Varicose vein probably

Detailed Answer:

Hello,

The bluish coloration you see noticing is probably due to the presence of varicose veins. It is the dilatation of veins in the leg caused by malfunctioning valves in the veins. people who stand for long periods of time are at increased risk of developing varicose veins.

You can follow up with a vascular surgeon for management of varicose vein. You can either contact your insurance company to locate a vascular surgeon in the network or follow up with your primary provider to get a referral to the specialist.

Meanwhile, you can use compression stockings.

Hope this answers your question. Please let me know if you need further.
