How Can Bruising Around The Puncture Area After Checking Blood Sugar Be Treated?

Question: Hi. II am a 60 year old very active female person. I do not have high blood pressure, eat primarily in the Mediterranean style, and own a construction company. I became concerned about sugar levels in the blood so I got a tester to keep track of it. When I was drawing blood I noticed that the puncture area was bruising and the blood seemed very thin. Reading was O.K. I recently went to a podiatrist to have my foot checked out & he gave me injections of deadener & cortisone. It has been two weeks Monday & the area is still very tender & bruised. Related to the blood problem??
Brief Answer:
No!
Detailed Answer:
Hi,
These are local side effects of the injection and in no way related to a blood disease. Be calm, and these local inflammatory reactions would soon be over. In the meantime, I will suggest that you take a pain drug such as Ibuprofen. Also, applying ice packs to this area would help relief the pain.
I hope this guides and addresses your query. I wish you well. Feel free to follow up with me if need be.

O.K. So why does the monitor have so much trouble reading my blood sugar levels & why does it look so watery??? & why am I bruising so easily? Take note... I do not sit at a desk for my living. I am very active & don't usually have this problem.

Any vitamin or mineral recommendations?
Brief Answer:
Are you on any medications?
Detailed Answer:
Hi,
Bruising easily could be related to steroids use and vitamin C deficiency. Clotting disorders could also be at the origin of this. If you have doubts, I will like that you do a basic battery of tests that would set the records straight.
Bruising after blood collection is really not uncommon and more so if pressure is not applied immediately. I will recommend that you stay calm and probably do laboratory tests for basic evaluation.
I wish you well.
