How Can Burning And Itching Near The Labia Be Treated Despite Being On Monistat Suppositories?
Question: Hello...two weeks ago I had a sinus infection and was prescribed the antibiotic augmentin for seven days. My last dose of the augmentin was on April 8th. The next day I started with itching below and the symptoms of a vaginal yeast infection. I gave it a few days to clear up on its own and when it didn’t, I started a three day kit of Monistat suppositories and cream. I used the last one last night, and I am still having the symptoms of burning, itching, pelvic discomfort and some round bumps on my labia. I’ve had yeast infections before following antibiotic use, and I am 99 percent sure this is one.
Is it normal to still be having the symptoms following the three day course of Monistat? Should I give it a few more days for symptoms to resolve or would you suggest I contact my gynecologist?
Thank you!

Brief Answer:
You can wait and watch for the same.
Detailed Answer:
Hello,
As you had the yeast infection before and after antibiotics course, it is better to wait and watch for the same to heal on its own.
As you took antifungal medicine for 3days, in my opinion, continue for 4 days more.Keep the area dry and clean. Use cotton undergarments. Take healthy and nutritious diet.
But if it persists, you need to check with your Gynecologist.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Take care

Hi Dr. Richa! Thanks so much for your reassuring reply! I truly appreciate it!
As a follow up question, the three day miconazole suppositories which I used were 200 mg each. As I said, I am not really feeling any relief or that my symptoms have subsided at all. Is it safe for me to now start a seven day kit of them, which are each 100 mg.? And as you said, you would suggest doing four more days of those 100 mg suppositories?
Thank you again!!
