How Can Chronic Peripheral Neuropathy Be Treated?

default
Posted on Wed, 4 Oct 2017
Question: I have motor and sensory neuropathy which is causing balance problems. I had no severe pain, just occasional stinging and burning in my feet - I don't consider that pain - my feet feel numb and I have drop-foot, so wear an fao on each leg. Is there anything new to help this? I've had it for about 7 years, My neurologist retired about 3 years ago and I haven't seen one since. I was told there is no cure for this. My concern is that my son is having the beginning symptoms and I wonder if there is help for him? One doctor said mine is hereditary.

Brief Answer:
Continue physiotherapy

Detailed Answer:
Hello,
I have gone through your question and understand your concern.
Sadly, no new treatment has come.
If the neuropathy is hereditary then it progress slowly but is not curable.
Genetic testing can be done to know the type of mutation.
Show your son to a neurologist too as early detection and regular physiotherapy will delay progression.
Hope you found the answer helpful.
